What are exosomes and why are they the future of aesthetic medicine?
Exosomes (more precisely: extracellular nanoscale vesicles, 30–150 nm) are a discovery that has revolutionised cell biology. Long dismissed as cellular "waste packets", we now know they are a key intercellular communication system present in every living organism.
Every cell secretes exosomes containing a unique "information package": signalling proteins, membrane lipids, mRNA and miRNA (micro-RNA) fragments. When exosomes bind to target cells (fibroblasts, keratinocytes), they deliver cellular instructions that alter gene expression — effectively reprogramming cell behaviour. This is a far more precise mechanism than traditional collagen stimulators.
In aesthetic medicine, exosomes are the fastest growing category — surpassing even PDRN and polynucleotides as the next generation of biostimulators.
Plant exosomes – how do they differ from animal and human exosomes?
Exodora Dermal Complex uses plant exosomes (PELNPs — Plant Exosome-Like Nanoparticles), which carry specific clinical and ethical advantages:
- Immunological safety — plant exosomes carry no human surface antigens or human pathogens. Risk of immune reactions is significantly lower than with human or animal-derived exosomes.
- Cross-species communication — research has shown that plant miRNAs can cross species barriers and regulate gene expression in human cells. This mechanism (known from dietary miRNA) is here applied in a targeted and controlled manner.
- Standardisation and reproducibility — plant exosomes can be produced under controlled conditions with excellent batch-to-batch consistency, without the ethical controversies associated with human or animal cell sourcing.
- Vegan certification — no animal-derived ingredients.
Houttuynia cordata – exosome properties
Houttuynia cordata (lizard tail, "fish herb") is a medicinal plant used in Asian medicine for centuries, rich in quercetin, rutin, isoquercitrin and other flavonoids. Exosomes from this plant carry:
- Anti-inflammatory action — specific miRNAs from H. cordata modulate NF-κB and COX-2 pathways, reducing skin inflammation at the transcriptional level.
- Antioxidant action — neutralisation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), protecting skin cells from oxidative stress and photoageing.
- Antimicrobial action — antibacterial and antiviral activity supporting skin barrier integrity.
- Fibroblast activation — indirect stimulation of collagen synthesis through regulation of pro-regenerative gene expression.
Oryza sativa – rice exosomes and their action in skin
Exosomes from Oryza sativa (rice) are a rich source of gamma-oryzanol, ferulic acid and ceramides — substances long known in dermatology as potent antioxidants and brightening agents:
- Brightening of pigmentation — inhibition of tyrosinase activity, reduction of melanin synthesis, evening of skin tone.
- Reinforcement of the lipid barrier — ceramides in rice exosomes support epidermal barrier integrity (TEWL ↓).
- Epidermal antioxidation — ferulic acid is one of the most potent plant antioxidants, acting synergistically with vitamins C and E.
- Soothing properties — reduction of redness and reactivity of sensitive skin.
The synergy of Houttuynia cordata exosomes (regenerative and anti-inflammatory) with Oryza sativa exosomes (brightening, antioxidation, barrier support) creates complementary, broad-spectrum action unavailable with a single exosome source.

FAQ – questions and answers
How do Exodora's plant exosomes differ from human or animal exosomes?
Human exosomes (e.g. from stem cells or umbilical cord blood) carry stronger biological signalling but come with risks of immune reactions and ethical concerns about sourcing. Exodora's plant exosomes have an excellent immunological safety profile, are reproducible, vegan-certified and carry no risk of human pathogen transmission. They can cross-regulate human cell genes via plant miRNAs — with clinically documented efficacy.
How does Exodora Dermal Complex differ from Exodora Hair Complex?
Exodora Dermal Complex is for face, neck and décolletage mesotherapy — regeneration, collagen, hydration, anti-ageing. Exodora Hair Complex is dedicated to the scalp — hair growth stimulation, reduced hair loss, improved follicle condition. The formulas are tailored to the distinct biological environments and needs of each area.
How can Exodora exosomes be combined with other procedures?
Exosomes work exceptionally well as a post-procedure booster (after laser, RF, microneedling, chemical peels) — applied immediately after a procedure they accelerate healing and amplify regenerative effects. They can also be combined with other mesotherapy products including Nithya Synerlift or NITHYA Type I Collagen.
When are the results visible?
Improved hydration, radiance and reduced skin reactivity are visible after 1–2 sessions. Full regenerative effects (density, elasticity, skin tone) build throughout the 4–6 session cycle and continue to develop for 4–6 weeks after completion.
Is Exodora Dermal Complex suitable for sensitive skin and rosacea?
Yes — the anti-inflammatory profile of Houttuynia cordata exosomes and the soothing properties of rice exosomes (Oryza sativa) make this product particularly suitable for sensitive, reactive skin and rosacea. No chemical irritants, no BDDE cross-linking agents, no irritating alcohols.
This product may only be used by doctors and cosmetologists trained in aesthetic medicine and holding qualifications to perform injections or mesotherapy procedures. By purchasing this product you confirm that you hold the required professional qualifications.
